Shawlands Business Association are going to host a ‘cycling event’ on the weekend of 17/18th September between 11 am – 2 pm around the Langside Hall where they will be promoting sustainable transportation in the area. The great news is this is a ‘farmer’s market’ weekend so you will get something delicious from the day.   

There will be a number of events taking place that weekend that include cycle workshops for under 5’s, cycle workshops for primary age kids – obstacle course/building up confidence, cycle your own smoothie bike, bike marking by the police and guided family cycle tours around Shawlands

Future Fitness will host a Fastest cyclist in Shawlands competition – so start training for the day!

Shawlands Arcade to be redeveloped following sale

Shawlands Arcade, a prominent shopping centre in the south side of Glasgow, is set to be redeveloped following an acquisition of the 5.75 acre site by Strathclyde Pension Fund and Ediston Real Estate.

The joint partners have pledged to remodel and redevelop the ageing complex in a bid to enhance its attractiveness to tenants and shoppers in the face of fierce competition from out of town retail parks such as Silverburn. Read full story here.

Glasgow Victoria Infirmary Redevelopment

Big in recent local property news has been the acquisition of Victoria Infirmary site by Sanctuary Group who is planning to redevelop it into much-needed homes.

The Glasgow Victoria Infirmary was formally opened in 1890 and was a teaching hospital with an acute operational bed complement of approximately 370. The hospital was situated at Langside in the south-east of Glasgow, and provided a range of health care services until May 2015 when it finally closed.

Sanctuary is now progressing with pre-planning application discussions with Glasgow City Council and the local community.
