In the last couple of years there have been lengthy discussions in the media about the relevance of a highstreet presence for retailers in general, so we have looked into the relevance of having an office people can pop into in 2016. Last month, Clyde Property Perth have been monitoring the actual footfall in the office to analyse whether having an office is still important to clients and this is what we discovered.
In October 2016 Clyde Property Perth recorded 325 visitors – excluding regular tradesmen and existing clients.
Gary Robertson, Area Director says: “We have always experienced a good level of footfall in our branch in George Street but this is the first time we have set about recording accurate figures to gauge exactly how many people still prefer to visit an estate agent in person.”
“With over 300 visitors to our branch in Perth in October, I think this demonstrates the benefit and importance of having a local, fully-staffed estate agent who is open 7 days a week. It averages at around 10 visitors per day and does not include regular visitors such as tradesman, surveyors or existing clients.”
“The total only included people looking to chat to us about selling their own property, to collect a printed glossy brochure on a property that was of interest to them, to see what properties we currently had available, to arrange viewings, to be added to our database of buyers and also to see what properties we might have coming to the market over the next couple of weeks that are not yet live on the market but may be available for viewings” – Gary continued,
“Many people were also potential purchasers from outwith the area who were keen to speak to an agent who lives locally and could emphasise the attractions and benefits of living in Perth and the surrounding area. Things such as school catchment areas, travel links, services and outdoor activities.”
Whilst clearly the internet is an important part of our marketing strategy, it is only part of the all-encompassing package we can offer our sale clients and this survey shows just how many people still prefer face-to-face contact when looking to talk about something as important as their buying and selling plans and how critical a prominent, easy to find branch open 7 days a week and knowledgable, local staff can be in helping to achieve a sale.
